3 Chile Pepper Spice Sea Salt
If you have noticed lately favored salts are part of a growing trend and are very tasty to use. They do however come with a hefty price tag in many cases. Other than earthy salts such as black, red, or Himalayan there isn't a huge reason to purchase them. With a little ingenuity you can make your own at home and save yourself the sticker shock of using gourmet salts. Here is an example of what I made, and you can do the same. I made my own gourmet pepper salt using peppers I dried myself and some kosher salt. First I dried peppers in my oven, if you have a dehydrator definitely use it. I dried habanero, cayenne, and Serrano. Next I ground them together. I used 1 Cayenne pepper, 1 Habanero, and 2 Serrano peppers. Lastly I ground in about 1/3 of a cup of kosher salt into the peppers and now I have a spicy flavored salt for anything I want to use it for. Have fun with this little tip, use it for Christmas and make gourmet salts for a present or another type of gift!
